This week marks CelebMix’s fifth birthday so we’ve decided to celebrate by dedicating articles to some of our favourite celebrities. This one is all about Demi Lovato and her music videos!
Demi Lovato has released an array of incredible music videos over the years, so we’re taking a look back at five of our favourites.
‘Sorry Not Sorry’
What’s not to love about this sassy visual? The concept of throwing a house party and then filming it is so simple but Demi truly thrives throughout ‘Sorry Not Sorry’. The video perfectly complements the ‘screw you’ vibe of the song, with Demi living her best life with her pals by her side.
‘Tell Me You Love Me’
Quite possibly Demi’s most heart-breaking visual to date, the ‘Tell Me You Love Me’ mini-movie sees the vocal powerhouse getting engaged to her partner (played by Jesse Williams). The visual highlights the ups and downs of their relationship in the run up to their wedding day, where Demi is ultimately jilted at the alter by her husband-to-be. Not only does the visual seamlessly emphasise the emotion of the song, but it also allows reminds us of Demi’s amazing acting ability.
‘Cool For The Summer’
‘Cool For The Summer’ was a career-defining moment for Demi, and there’s no doubt that the accompanying music video is an absolute serve too. Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the visual is dark, sexy and liberating, with Demi slaying a number of looks. The confidence she exudes throughout is also incredible – if we could bottle it up for ourselves then we would!
‘Skyscraper’
Whilst some of our favourite Demi music videos have been big and bold offerings, there’s no doubt that she’s also a queen at delivering intimate and emotion-filled visuals. Directed by Mark Pellington, the video for ‘Skyscraper’ sees Demi performing in the middle of a desert. With the camera focusing on her close ups of her face for the most part, she is unable to hide the raw emotion attached to the song, heightening its message and cementing her strength.
‘I Love Me’
Without doubt our favourite Demi Lovato music video to date, ‘I Love Me’ sees Demi taking a look at her past and the events which have shaped her into who she is today. Packed with Easter eggs representing notable incidents in her life, the music video is a reminder that Demi is a survivor and has overcome so much over the years. Whilst we’ve seen a confident Demi in past music videos, she is positively glowing throughout ‘I Love Me’ and it’s so empowering to watch.
