You might think of her as a legendary actress and fashion icon, but to Audrey Hepburn, the most important role of her life (besides devoted mother) was Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF. From 1989 to her death in 1993, Hepburn devoted her life to caring for the suffering children of destitute countries such as Vietnam and Ethiopia. Today, her 20-year-old granddaughter, BAZAAR September cover star Emma Ferrer, continues her grandmother's work, joining UNICEF in New Jersey to pack 25,000 winter survival kits for the children of Sudan and Northern Iraq. In these countries, winter temperatures fall to 0°, and exposure to the cold can kill children living in crude, temporary homes. Ferrer will fill packages with jackets, gloves, thermal underwear and more to help children age 0 to 14 stave off the cold. Audrey would be so proud.

Above, Emma poses with Harper's BAZAAR editor in chief Glenda Bailey.
