Soon after MTV premiered 16 and Pregnant back in 2009, it became a cultural phenomenon. As we all know, it launched numerous spinoffs, leading up to its current iteration, Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.

Now, fifteen years later, it appears that Netflix intends to memorialize the phenomenon in a new documentary.

But as we all know, there’s more to the franchise than meets the eye, and according to former 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis, the documentary won’t shy away from the darker topics.
