Whose sun-kissed fling will capture the public’s imagination this year? ITV2’s dating bonanza Love Island herds singles into a luxury pad to mingle, with the public voting for which couples gel best.

The show’s proven a hit, even topping Channel 5’s Big Brother in the ratings – so it’s back for more. Here goes…

When does Love Island 2017 begin?

The new series kicks off at 9 pm on Monday 5th June on ITV2. It’s set to clash with the latest Big Brother launch (starting at 8:30 pm), so you’ll need to choose which bickering fame-seekers to watch first.

The 2017 run is set to be its longest series yet, lasting eight summery weeks instead of six. It’s also joined by AfterSun, a new Sunday night aftershow where a celebrity panel will digest the latest gossip from the villa – eliminated singles will also join them to chew over why their dating didn’t gel with viewers.

Who’s hosting?

Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor alumni Caroline Flack returns for her third year at the helm, providing occasional commentary to the contestants’ rollercoaster love-hunting. Iain Stirling is also returning to chirpily narrate the action.

Who’s taking part?

11 sun-seeking singles will arrive on Monday, with more being parachuted in later to shake up the group’s dynamic.

Highlights include “no-nonsense” Motorsport Grid Girl Olivia Attwood, “cheeky chappy” hairdresser Kem Cetinay and “posh and sporty” economics student Montana Brown.

Music professional Marcel Somerville boasts he’s “always got a girl on the scene” – in fact, he’s previously courted eight of them at once. Oil rig worker Sam Gowland hopes to stir up some mayhem, warning that he’s “not here to make friends” – that’s in stark contrast 20-year-old dancer Amber Davies, who claims she’s “very real” and “won’t cause trouble”. We’ll see how long that lasts…
