Pete Maravich was an American professional basketball player. He was a shooting guard. He spent his National Basketball Association (NBA) career playing for the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans/Utah Jazz, and Boston Celtics. He was nicknamed “Pistol Pete.”

Pete was the son of Helen and Press Maravich (born Petar Maravich), a college and professional basketball coach. His paternal grandparents were from Drežnica, near Ogulin, now Croatia. He was married to Jackie, until his death, with whom he had two children.
