LONDON (CelebrityAccess) – The Ivors Academy held The Ivors with Amazon Music Awards on Thursday (May 23) at the Grosvenor House in London. Ivor Novello Awards are judged by acclaimed songwriters and composers from The Ivors Academy and awarded for craft and creative excellence. Presented since 1956, each winner receives a hand-crafted Ivor Novello statuette and joins a roll call of greats that includes Adele, Stormzy, Cathy Dennis, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Joan Armatrading. The 26 songwriter and composer winners were revealed across 14 categories.
Bruce Springsteen received the Fellowship of The Ivors Academy, the highest honor given by the organization. Springsteen became the first international songwriter to be inducted into the Fellowship by the Academy – recognizing his outstanding contributions to songwriting and the impact on the UK’s music culture. He was presented with the award by Sir Paul McCartney.
Raye was presented the Songwriter of the Year Award with Amazon Music, and Lana Del Rey, who has had six No. 1 albums in the UK, was given the International Award.
Roberto Neri, CEO of The Ivors Academy, released a statement on his LinkedIn page:
“After 20+ times attending the Ivors, it was great to be able to look at the event in a new light and to see the joy it brings to the music industry. A day where it doesn’t matter who you are, but all come to the same realisation that Songwriters and Composers must be celebrated, protected and compensated better every single day. Fran Matthews, Cindy Truong, Tilly Flynn, and Kate Spiers are the incredible team that made this year’s awards so special. A massive thank you from me, the team and everyone that was there yesterday who wouldn’t know it’s you that should be thanked and praised.”
